What Is EdwardJanus.net
EdwardJanus.net is an Online Disability Advocate and Activist Web site - Fighting Voices for Disabled Community, Sharing News and Resources exists to be an online source for Advocating and Activism to strengthen the Disabled Community’s Political Voices. Our goal is to empower Disabled and our Allies, trying to make government, businesses and organizations aware and more responsive to the concerns of Disabled Communities needs or rights. And also bring about positive political and social change for everyone in the Disabled Community. This is a not-for-profit site. It is the efforts of a disabled individual who owns, created and maintains this web site. Using limited income for funds to cover site’s expenses - with information for persons with disabilities, their families, friends, and other interested persons.
What We Do?
Using the Internet, we will enable Disabled Persons to speak in unison, with an amplified political voice. We will keep them informed about the most pressing issues for the Disabled and give them ways to act. We will lobby elected representatives using the Internet and World Wide Web’s resources. Forming a Network of Web sites - Posting on Blogs, Discussion Forums, Community Groups. As well as Online Letters, Emails, Messages, Petitions, Polls etc. We'll bring attention to the needs and concerns of Disabled by demanding that the news media cover our issues. We will work with other group’s online efforts and other organizations that are doing related work to magnify our impact. When we come together and speak with one voice, we cannot be ignored.
How It Started?
Edward Janus.net uses the “Organizing Power of the Internet” to give Disabled Persons and our allies a renewed and strengthened political voice. We are calling out to all people who are ready to help and stand up for Disabled's Justice. It is time to come together and raise our voices. Let's all become the “Fighting Voices for Disabled Community”.
Edward Janus?
He is creator and owner of this web site. Born May 30, 1953 and grew up in Chicago, now lives in Northlake, IL. A 1973 High School graduate. Has Cerebral Palsy, deaf and amputee permanently confined to a wheelchair. Is Homebound, Shut-In. Worked to earn a living for 25 years until November 1995 then spinal problems forced him into an early disability retirement. Had over ten surgeries on cervical spinal column in is lifetime. Now has been on permanent Social Security Disability since 1996. Was married January 1989 and has a daughter born October 1990. After his wife was hit by an automobile crossing a street and killed in 1999, now lives alone. Receive only one household income. A Social Security check monthly. You can reach him by email; all his activities and tasks are completed via Internet. Or you may send a regular postal mail.
